The
following section lists some of the applications that Wavelength
NDT are currently supporting.
Over the years we have inspected many different types of structure
and have expertise in adapting standard industry inspection techniques
for new applications and materials. If you cannot find a direct
match to your requirement or require further information, please
contact
Richard Freemantle to discuss your application in more detail.
Aerospace
Wavelength
NDT are experienced in the inspection of aerospace components and
structures fabricated in alloys and composite materials. We can
offer advice on the suitability of a particular inspection technique
or develop new procedures to the client's specification including
the following materials and defect types:
We
have developed inspection techniques suitable for the inspection
of bonded structures in the automotive and related industries. These
can be utilised for quality assurance of both structural and non
structural adhesive applications including:
Adhesive
placement.
Bead
width measurement.
Bondline
thickness gauging.
Void
detection.
Bondline
porosity detection.
Marine
Through
its partnership with
Marine Results, Wavelength NDT have worked with yacht
and spar designers, manufacturers and race teams/owners. We routinely
provide NDT inspection services for production, pre-service and
in-service applications on racing yachts, super yachts and motor
yachts. We offer inspection techniques for a wide range of metallic
and composite structures including:
Full
hull surveys (shearography, acoustic, ultrasonic).
Yacht
mast and boom inspection (acoustic, ultrasonic).
Rudders
and canards/daggerboards (acoustic, ultrasonic).
Composite
repairs (acoustic, ultrasonic).
Rod
rigging and stainless steel inspection (dye penetrant, ultrasonic).
Keel
inspection (ultrasound, dye penetrant).
Steel
hull corrosion mapping (ultrasound).
We
offer full inspection of both monolithic and cored laminates and
are capable of assessing many types of defects including:
Skin to core
bonding.
Porosity/void
detection.
Delamination
and impact damage mapping.
Bond
inspection (e.g. joggle bond, reinforcements).
Wind
energy
Wavelength
NDT are experienced in the development of inspection methods and
ultrasonic techniques for quality assurance and in-service inspection
of composite wind turbine blades including:
Laminate
quality of spars, skins, webbings (porosity, voiding).
Bond assessment
of skin to spar/webbing.
In-service
delamination and impact damage
characterisation.
Fibre waviness/wrinkles.
Composite
repairs.
Other
sectors
Wavelength
NDT have also provided inspection services and consultancy to other
industry sectors including Rail, Civil Engineering and the Power
industry.
