Evidence of porosity can be detected in a number of ways including simple A-scan measurements through to detailed B-scan and C-scan analysis of the ultrasound echo position and amplitude.

Voids in doubler reinforcement

Focussed ultrasound B-scan and C-scan inspection of voids permits enhanced analysis of defects to help ascertain the nature of the void such as laminate contamination, dry fibres, bridging or layer porosity.
