Fibre waviness

Using the latest technology, ultrasonic imaging of in-plane and out-of-plane fibre waviness can be performed and quantitative measurement of the fibre angle made. Wavelength NDT are world leaders in this area of expertise and have developed, fully validated and qualified inspection procedures for the aerospace and wind energy markets.  We can work closely with your stress and design engineers to help evaluate waviness test samples to locate areas of severe waviness.  These samples can then be mechanically tested to determine the 'knock down factor' or KDF on the material performance.   Using this knowledge ultrasound NDT methods can be optimised for a particular type and severity of waviness and validated using micrograph analysis.  The techniques Wavelength NDT have developed have been proven to work on many types of carbon and glass fibre laminates.
